Kellogg – Q Commercializing Innovations
Winter 2026
Kellogg and the Querrey InQbation Lab are collaborating to offer a unique, experience-based course: ENTR-958 Commercializing Innovations. This one-quarter course provides MBA students with the opportunity to be embedded in Northwestern research centers, gaining structured entry points into cutting-edge technology areas and exposure to cross-disciplinary research. Success for new technology depends on a business’s ability to create and capture value through innovation—ranging from product to business model innovation.
In this course, students will develop commercial opportunities for Northwestern University’s unique technologies, innovations, and inventions. The program is especially beneficial for students interested in entrepreneurship, business startups, business design, business strategy consulting, and commercialization.
The information session will take place at The Global Hub from 12:15-1:15 PM on Monday, October 13. Course projects will draw from research at the following centers and institutes.
- Center for Regenerative Nano Medicine
- Chemistry of Life Processes Institute
- Northwestern University's Atomic and Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center
- Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics
- Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy
Based on the needs of each research project and interest of the PI, the MBA student may conduct a market study, a competitive analysis, a gap analysis or an initial assessment of commercialization potential. They are expected to devote approximately 6-8 hours per week. The MBA students may request to use a stipend of $2000 per project to support relevant market reports, customer discovery, trade show fees, travel, etc.
